Congratulations to coach Cory Harbinson and the Team Boca Girls 2009 NPL team as they won their first game at the NPL National Finals in Denver, Colorado, on Tuesday.

Team Boca, the NPL Florida League U17 Finals champions, topped Emerald City FC, 1-0, in Group A action at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park.Team Boca broke through in the 35th minute on a give-and-go pass between Karlie Arkins and Brie Berman in the penalty area, and Berman’s cross into the penalty area that the Emerald City FC defense failed to clear. The ball took a deflection and found the back of the net for an own goal.Harbinson lauded the play of his entire squad, but was especially pleased with the play of goalkeeper Riley Goldberg and Aven Brouillard.“It was a great give-and-go between Karlie and Brie, and it was just a cluster of defending,” said coach Harbinson, who is in his fourth season with the squad. “I have to give game balls to Riley and Aven, but I have to applaud their overall effort. The whole team played well.
