Congratulations to Coach Raul Orezzoli and the Team Boca Pre-ECNL G15 squad for a huge come-from-behind victory over Davie United Soccer Club Pre-ECNL in the Under-11 Gold Division Final of the South Florida Soccer Cup and Showcase at the Paradise Coast Soccer Complex on Sunday.
Team Boca rallied from a 2-0 deficit early in the second half to pull out a 3-2 (3-1 PKs) victory to claim the championship.
Sienna Thomas scored in the 37th minute on a penalty kick, and Ava Meyer scored on a 35-yard free kick in the upper-90 to send the game to PKs. Thomas, Tessa Cathers, and Ava Donasio all converted their PKs, and Meyer saved two penalty kicks to propel the team to the win.

The Team Boca Girls 2009 NPL team handed the Sunrise Surf 2009 Girls NPL Blue team its first loss of the season in the NPL Florida League U17 Finals, and, in the process, punched its ticket to the NPL National Finals in Denver, Colorado, in July.
Team Boca, which had two goals disallowed during the 80 minutes of regulation and 20 minutes of overtime, won the game, 1-0, outscoring Sunrise 4-2 in penalties. Catalina Sola, Karlie Arkins, Brie Berman, and Olivia Cole all converted from the spot, and goalkeeper Riley Goldberg saved a PK on Sunday afternoon at Starkey Ranch District Park in Odessa. Sunrise had defeated the team earlier in the year, and they tied 0-0 a couple of weeks ago.
“It is nice to come up with a win, especially since we didn’t have momentum coming in,” said coach Cory Harbison, who is in his fourth season with the squad. They lost in the NPL Florida Finals last year by the same scoreline to Florida Elite (Tallahassee). “All of our girls played well, and we didn’t concede a goal all weekend in 180 minutes. It was great for them to win the state championship.”
The next stop for Team Boca is the NPL Finals from July 7-11 at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park.
