Team Boca COVID-19 Update

MAY 1ST UPDATE FROM THE DIRECTOR OF TEAM BOCA

To All Players, Parents, and Coaches:

We hope this email finds you healthy and safe during these very unusual times. The COVID-19 outbreak has impacted us all and has resulted in unprecedented restrictions not only here in Boca Raton but across our country and around the world. As you take the necessary actions to ensure the health and safety of your families, we want to let you know that we remain committed to keeping Team Boca moving forward towards a customary and productive upcoming 2020 season.

With everyone’s health and safety as our top priority, please rest assured that we are implementing a policy to follow the guidance of our city, state, and medical experts in our efforts to get everyone back on the fields ASAP. We understand the impact the “stay-at-home” order has had on all of you and truly appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we collectively navigate these complex and changing times. We are cautiously optimistic that we will be back on the fields soon and can assure you that we will have the proper protocols and guidelines necessary to ensure the safety of everyone.

As you may know, most of our state is beginning to open back up with limited access and participation, including sports fields. However, Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties currently have additional restrictions still in place. Therefore, although our annual tryouts remain scheduled for the end of this month, we are still uncertain exactly when our fields will be open. We expect to receive more information very soon from the City of Boca Raton, as well as Florida Youth Soccer, which implements the rules and guidelines that all registered youth soccer clubs in Florida must follow.

In the coming days we will announce a uniquely modified plan to execute tryouts that will include safe and healthy social distancing measures regardless of what date we are actually able to begin. We will also announce a revised online player registration format to address any potential temporary financial strain that some of our Team Boca families may be incurring. Again, more detailed information, along with a link to register, will be made available to you on our website very soon.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank our entire coaching staff who have spent countless hours over the past several weeks working with all available players through distance learning efforts via Social Media and Group conferencing. It’s truly amazing how our staff and players have remained engaged and focused on continued player development throughout this unexpected time away from the field.

More info to follow shortly. I hope to see everyone on our field very soon!

Sincerely,

Bill D’Addio, Ph.D.
