Mario Rincon Named New Director of Coaching & Player Development

Veteran college coach, Mario Rincon, has been named the new Director of Coaching & Player Development at the Team Boca Soccer Club and will begin his role in January, 2019.
A former Team Boca player and coach, Mario played locally for Pope John Paul High School in Boca Raton, and then the University of Central Florida. Mario subsequently went on to a prestigious 22 year college and pro coaching career beginning at local Lynn University, during which the Knights posted a combined 58-4-0 record, and won the 1998 NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer National Championship, the program’s first NCAA title after winning three titles at the NAIA level.

Mario then went on to coach at the professional level with Major League Soccer’s NY/NJ MetroStars (now New York Red Bulls) serving as a team administrator, scout, and coach. After his MLS stint, Mario coached at the University of Miami for one season before accepting the same position at Duke University where he specialized in player recruitment and helped reel in a top 10 recruiting class. From Duke, Mario spent three seasons on the coaching staff at Baylor University in Texas, where he once again brought in a nationally-ranked recruiting class.

After Baylor, Coach Mario joined the staff at Wright State University, where the Raiders posted a combined 23-8-5 record over his two seasons there. From Wright State, he joined the coaching staff at Florida Gulf Coast University, helping his former head coach at Lynn University (and former Team Boca DOC), Jim Blankenship, to start the Eagles Division I Women’s Soccer Program. FGCU posted a 32-16-6 record over Mario’s three seasons with the program.

Mario’s success at FGCU led him to be named to the staff at the prestigious United States Military Academy at West Point. There he helped guide Army to two Patriot League titles including an NCAA tournament berth. His success at Army led him to be named to the staff at the University of Arkansas. In his five seasons there he helped earn bids to three NCAA tournaments, coaching the Razorbacks to a program record 18 wins and a #11 national ranking. Coach Mario then returned to his home state of Florida where he was most recently the Coach at St Leo University for two seasons.

Mario holds a BA Degree in Business Administration, and holds a United States Soccer Federation National “A” License, as well as an NSCAA Advanced National License. He has also been on our Fl State ODP Coaching Staff for the past 20 years and is currently the ODP Coach of the Girls ‘01-‘02 team.

“We are extremely privileged to have Mario return to his roots at Team Boca. He is one of the most respected college coaches in the nation, and his experience with player development and college recruitment will add tremendous value to both our Boys & Girls programs,” said Bill D’Addio, Team Boca Club Director.

“I want to thank Bill D’Addio for this opportunity. It’s a tremendous honor and privilege to be back at such a great competitive club. I look forward to once again being part of the Boca Raton soccer community and working closely with Bill and our Boys and Girls Directors, Michael Araujo, and Rocky Orezzoli,” said Mario.
