Staff Spotlight….
Darren Karuzas
Team Boca is
fortunate to have Coach Darren with our program since 1991, serving
as a trainer and coach of various teams, including our 2002 State
Champion and Regional Finalist Boys U18 team.
A local product,
Darren played soccer at Santaluces High School and later went on
play at Lynn University from 1988 – 1991. After a stellar college
career he played five years professionally with the USSISL Boca
Raton Sabres and Myrtle Beach Boyz, as well as three years with A
League Miami Freedom and Ft. Lauderdale Strikers.
Besides coaching
with Team Boca he has served as Head Boys Varsity Coach at Olympic
Heights from 1993 – 2002, where he earned eight District
Championships, three Regional Championships and two State
Championships! He also served as Head Coach for the Girls soccer
team there where he went undefeated during the regular season.
Darren is currently
Team Boca’s Head Boys Trainer. In that capacity he assists all of
the boys coaches in the technical and tactical training of all boys
in our program as well as assisting all coaches on the sideline.
Darren is also the Girls Head Varsity Coach at the new
West Boca High School where he led the second year program to the
District Championship receiving Coach of the Year honors by the Palm
Beach County Athletic Conference. He holds a USSF National Coaching License.
