Spotlight: Erick
Risco
We are very happy to have Coach Erick back to coach our Girls U 12
White team this season. Erick is
originally from Peru where he began his soccer career at a very
young age of three on the streets of Peru. At 17 he was invited to
play semi professional for Cerro Azul de Canete and represented them
in the Peru Cup. Erick also played in the lower divisions for
Peruvian team Universitario de Deportes in Lima and was then
promoted to the professional team at age 18.
After coming to the
U.S. in 1989, Erick was a two year starter at hometown Florida
Atlantic University, helping them to their best record ever climbing
into the the top of NCAA Div. II for the first time
since joining the NCAA in 1983. Erick then transferred to the
University of Mobile, Al. in 1990, where he helped the Rams to back
to back Final Four appearances. Erick later returned to S. Florida
where he was selected to the Florida Strikers but decided to pursue
a business career instead. He later continued playing for the highly
competitive Florida Gold Coast league on Peruvian team IBC where he
was teammates with former professionals Teofilo Cubillas (former
world Cup player) and Miguel Muchotrigo.
Coach Erick was
formerly a coach with the Delray Beach Soccer Club and is on staff
at Florida Atlantic Soccer Camp. Coach Erick holds a USSF
National Coaching license.
